Last Looks: LED Lighstim For Wrinkles
Lightstim LED Lightwand
I’ll admit. The Pandemic really made me up my selfcare routine to a whole new level and for that I will be forever grateful. Never one to shy away from a sale, I ended up getting all sorts of fun tools, like a new Microneedler, my beloved Gua Sha (I have three kinds now, I’m insane) and the ONE tool I had been dying to try that every beauty blogger had told me about… the Lightstim for Wrinkles Light Therapy Wand. And lo and behold, IT WAS ON SALE last summer at the N Sale.
You see, when we become ladies of a certain age, our bodies naturally stop producing collagen around 25. From then, it starts to decrease by 1% per year. Collagen is a protein in our body that binds it together; think parts of our body like skin, bones, eyes, joints -- just the whole thing -- no big deal. Apparently it makes up 75% of our skin, giving our skin a plump, voluminous look. Remember our baby fat we wished so dearly would go away at 18 and 22? BYE. I wish I still had it.
So with this tool, you’re saying I use it and it stimulates collagen production that my body doesn’t naturally produce on it’s own? To give me plumper, fuller skin? This sounds like a win for me, dawg.
So since we start producing less of it, how do we get more of it to keep us young and beautiful forever? One, supplements are great and I have been taking them, albiet not as regularly as I should. But, investing in this Lightstim for Wrinkles, I feel that it’s regenerating my skin from he inside out in combination of all my self care tools and skincare.
Lightstim: What Is it?
It’s an FDA approved light therapy device that treats skin that helps stimulate collagen (gives your skin volume) and elastin (gives your skin stretch). This, combined with your skincare and plenty of water and good lifestyle choices, helps improve the appearance of fine lines, hydration of the skin and for me, overall skin texture. Regardless of age or skin texture, you can use it all over the face. It helps with undereye puffiness, crows feet, forehead lines, nasal labial folds, lips and jawline. I’ve also been using it on my neck, chest and an old wound that I have that has some scarring from and am feeling I’m seeing results with that, too.
How it works
This is a hand-held device designed to be used for thirty minutes total. The 3” diameter fits perfectly on the skin. It feels warm, not hot and should rest gently or be held hovering just above the skin. You can use this on a clean face or use their suggested serum with Photosomes that enhance results. A Photosome is an ingredient derived from plankton extract which is a type of seaweed, that when light stimulated, it encourages DNA and cell repair. YAY SCIENCE.
Start in one area gently resting the lights on desired skin and let the 3 minute timer do it’s thing, then move to the next area. Simple as that! I will do mine with a glass of wine (and lots of alkaline water, too), watching Netflix, the nightly news, or scrolling Instagram. The instructions include a map for suggested use, and I use it primarily for my forehead, crow’s feet area ( you can use the goggles when you get to that part), and cheeks in hopes of reducing my pores. I would not exceed the recommended three minute per area recommendation.
Benefits and Results
With regular use, I’m talking, you need to make a commitment to using it daily, you will see a difference. The summer, I used it almost every day and I personally have seen a difference in the hydration of my skin, reduction in my small crow’s feet and I feel like I’m slowly eliminating my forehead wrinkles. The deeper lines I had have diminished. Since I was in transit in my home in LA and Houston, renovations, I haven’t been able to commit to my regular nighttime routine in 2021. However, I’ve been using it since I moved back to LA and am I see an overall difference when I consistently use it just in the past week. My skin feels energized, relaxed, glowing and radiant. I literally wake up seeing a difference.
The great thing about Lightstim is they also have a 2” diameter Lightstim for Acne, with blue light technology that kills bacteria to help reduce mild acne and inflammation of the skin. I had seen some results online and was really impressed. They also have one for pain! They really got the market covered on self care and self improvement to help your body regenerate and feel it’s best.
Why I love it
Honestly, upping self care has been the one thing that kept me sane. It just feels nice. You’re doing something for yourself to feel your best. I felt beautiful and was getting amazing, professional salon results at home by using this. This is a relatively low cost (in comparison to regular in-person treatments) that you can do yourself. Please remember, I am not an esthetician, just a makeup artist and skincare obsessed junkie who wants to stay forever young and look great on camera and this is what has worked for me. If you have sensitive skin, consult your dermatologist.
I can say with confidence that my skin looks more youthful, clear, even, wrinkles have been reduced and pores are tightening.
