Mascara is one of those things that is so personal, you have to find the perfect combination for YOUR lashes. Mine are fine with decent length, so I tend to look for a formula that is volumizing and lightweight with maximum impact. Hard to find… But then I tried Pat McGrath Dark Star Mascara.

It’s a beautiful formula with everything I look for. Lengthening, volumizing, and feels weightless. My lashes look full, long, and soft with one coat.

The wand is great — an hourglass shape that gives lift through the center to make your eyes look bigger. Think of it as lifting tall through your spine, same for your lashes. The wand helps you shape your lashes too, with the formula’s flexible polymers.

Here, I added a second coat for a more dramatic look. I applied the mascara about 15 minutes after I did my first “fresh” look and boy does it give you double impact. I think it might have something to do with the gel-hybrid formula. It didn’t clump up or get cakey while adding a second layer. For me, that’s a good sign that you can take this mascara with you in your makeup bag and use it for touch ups for going to dinner after work.

For ultra intensity, it has pitch-black micro-fine creme pigments, which I found so intense that it made my chocolate brown eyes look like a hazel green. I love it when that happens!

The eyeliner is also amazing. Not only does it glide ands wear easily, I was able to line my waterline without my eyes being irritated. I also liked the smooth gel-like consistency out of a pencil that made it easy to apply and blend with an angle brush to smoke out. Also, it’s so jet-black, this definitely helped brighten my eye color. This pencil is waterproof so it will wear through tears. I have yet to try. ;)

For a $30 price tag for a beautiful, luxurious mascara that not only does it wear well, it didn’t flake on me, I was able to add more later during the day for more drama (so great to carry in your purse), the packaging is gorgeous. It’s a heavy, gold chrome tube, and looks so posh on your vanity and easy to spot in your makeup bag with its bright, shiny tube! Definitely worth it!
